jack's graduation

Tuesday, 18 November 2014

we went to bournemouth for a couple of days last week to celebrate jack's graduation. we left early in the morning to attend the two o'clock ceremony. as soon as we arrived, we quickly got changed in the car park and eve and me requisitioned the front seats of the van to put make up on. we walked through the gardens to the bournemouth international centre where graduation took place.

the hall was buzzing with proud parents and siblings. we met up with martin who was waiting for us, he is one of our closest friend and supported jack through his time at university so it was important for jack to share this moment with him.

all suited-up jack disappeared to collect his hat and gown, i can't describe you how proud of him we all felt when he reappeared dressed up as a graduate.

the ceremony went a lot quicker than we expected. we were encouraged to clap and cheer as much as we liked at the beginning of the proceedings which lifted the seriousness of the atmosphere. although it was a very important moment in the lives of all the graduates, it was after all a time for celebrations.

i sat between martin and eve and we spent most of the ceremony commenting on the degree subjects of the graduates, all from the applied school of science, and there sometimes strange shoe choices.

the ceremony was followed by a more relaxed drinks and canap├ęs in another hall where a band was playing uplifting music. the weather was dreadful so we missed out of the traditional beach graduation pictures everyone dreams of when studying by the seaside.

jack said it was one of the best day of his life with an immense sense of achievement. university is where we met, became more of ourselves and lead us to where we are now. it was a lovely day of family celebrations we will all remember.
